We are the largest independent power producer in the MENA region

TAQA’s roots lie in the provision of power and water desalination capabilities in Abu Dhabi, and this has remained a key part of our business. We own a majority interest in eight power generation and water desalination facilities in the United Arab Emirates and provide 98% of the Emirate's electricity and water requirements.

Building on our position as an established and trusted utility company, we have expanded our Power & Water operation within the greater MENA region to include six countries outside the UAE: Ghana, India, Iraq, Morocco, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

We also a have a contractual interest in a power generation facility in the United States.

Output and volume

We are the largest independent power producer in the MENA region, with a total gross power generation capacity of 16,395 MW and a water desalination capacity of 887 MIGD.

Plans for the future

In line with our strategy of organic growth within the greater MENA region, a number of modernisation and expansion initiatives are already underway, in Ghana, India, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates. Other similar Power & Water projects will follow, along with selective acquisitions that complement either our core competencies or our key markets.
